Thank you for your comprehensive guidelines. Again it exposes that the best thing you can do is make as much as possible yourself, starting with unprocessed, preferably bio products. As for the ‘fake meat’ products, I got a great yet simple recipe to make fake schnitzel from my great grand aunt during the 2nd world war (when meat and a lot of other products where not available): mash cooked beans, add a little tomato paste, salt and lovage. Make balls that you flatten as a schnitzel and press in (stale) breadcrumbs. Fry as schnitzel in oil, butter, ghee or whatever fat you like to use.
Some good information but you’ve left out one of the biggest health threats that we have seen since aspartame: microcrystalline cellulose. It is in 95% of all packaged “healthy “foods and most supplements and Pharma medication.
The challenge is that it is written off as “safe plant fibre” (a.k.a. woodpulp – yeah the same stuff that makes paper and MDF fibre board etc) that can pass through the body in large quantities because the gut biome does not have the required enzymes to break it down.
Yet because of the intentional processing of grinding it into a micro size, residue stays in the body and builds up. It is a cumulative effect which can cause many systemic issues – especially inflammation. Many write off the symptomology, other illness or factors to pre-existing conditions, when in fact, creating intake of microcrystalline cellulose can create a profound improvement in health for many people.
Those with compromised immune systems are especially at risk as it is known to be a mast cell activator. Which is ironical, considering many of the pharmaceuticals that are used to treat it have it as their primary binder!
And where there is doubt or cognitive dissonance, ask yourself: why is it in food, pharmaceuticals, nutrients, but also non-edibles such as make up, skin and hair care products – not to mention the industrial uses?
Great list! I always shake my head when I look at an organic product in the store only to find an ‘organic’ seed oil. 🤔. Crazy that we are so overwhelmed with processed foods to the point that most people don’t recognize real food.
Why not just say no fake milk? Outside of coffee, adults only use it for cereal, which is totally unnecessary, processed food anyway. Also, no sports drinks, fake meat, sugary granola period. You are right about plain yogurt + berries. The problem with the health food aisle is that it largely replaces one kind of processed food with another. Sticking to real ingredients is better advice.
I feel like you’re one of the few people really talking about this. The health food aisle is so deceiving and it’s so important to read and understand the labels if we want to optimize our health from the inside out. It’s upsetting how many toxic, health demoting ingredients are being added to our foods. It’s such a shame but being educated about all of it helps in making smarter decisions about what we choose to consume.
just wondering what your degree is in?
Did I read correctly that you are promoting raw, un-pasteurised milk?
My mental model is that if it has “healthy” written on the package, it isn’t really healthy.
Real healthy food doesn’t need to market it.

Something to investigate.

Well worth the read. It pays to not assume and do the research. The marketing in this category is so very misleading!
No processed foods and trading chart in front of me - my daily routine
Thank you, was looking for a natural hydrater for work outs now I have something to try

I'm new on your substack. Have you already wrote about healthy cookware and storage materials?
