Managing Overwork: Strategies for Success
I've got a whirlwind of thoughts swirling in my mind because I'm juggling multiple projects at once— from crafting a sleep guide to curating newsletters to managing a website, and who knows what else.
It's reaching a tipping point where it feels like I'm in a constant battle with my own mind.
But here's the thing—I'm fully aware of this incessant pressure to keep producing, and I'm taking action to address it.
Here's what helped me break free from the overworking funk.
1. Prioritize Your Tasks
Ironically, by completing one task every single day, you are more productive than if you were to do multiple tasks a little bit each day. \
Give something your singular focus and roll with it no matter what.
Over time, the one large task, typically a creative endeavor, will reap lots of rewards.
2. Pomodoro Breaks
I will shoot the can until it falls over with this one.
Our mind has a timer; the timer goes till about 1.5 hours. After that, it shuts off and you will need to reset it.
Wait a couple of minutes and then try again.
The same goes for our ability to work.
We can truly have a period of intense focus and concentration for 1.5 hours.
After that, there is a precipitous decline in focus and key neurotransmitters.
I'm not saying we can only work 1.5 hours a day, but you must take breaks in between each period to allow yourself rest, then you can go at it again.
3. Clearing the Mind
Walk, clean, and don’t do anything that challenges the brain.
A relaxing book can work as well, just not some business or school book.
Social media is way too stimulating on the mind, so cut that out as well.
This is how you avoid daily burnout.
You set your goal for the day on one project.
It could be the first draft of a newsletter or a video. It doesn’t matter. Once you get that done, you can be proud and finish the day.
You take breaks to ensure that your mind maintains concentration throughout the flow session.
After that, you clear your mind.

Book of the week: Ernest Hemingway Mary V Dearborn
Absolutely love this book!
I love a good biography, especially about writers. The lifestyle is so captivating and interesting to me.
I don’t know if I could travel to Paris with no money and work in a newsroom, but this captivates me.
I don’t know how she did it—so many facts, so many details—and it teaches you a lot about Ernest's writing process.
Product Of The Week: Kion Amino Acids
