People taking things like AG1 (or things like psyllium husk fiber) without a foundation in good diet & nutrition is one of my huge pet peeves. The gut thrives on a variety of plant polyphenols and there is just no shortcut around that! I was personally always a fan of Mark Sisson's multivitamin options, not sure how that is going with Kraft in charge these days.
On the sweeteners, I saw an interesting Zoe study that found that different people's microbiomes react positively or negatively to any given arifical sweetener-- one of many areas where personalized nutrition will one day hopefully be highly useful.
Renaissance! beautifully said. You can't ignore the fact that the gut thrives on diversity. very true my friend. I haven't checked out Mark's multivitamin options. Who knows what Kraft has done to it lol. And the microbiome diversity piece is so interesting. Thanks for the comment. Please stay in touch.
I see this often in my work as a wellness coach. Many people are looking for a shortcut, but it almost always comes back to the basics. Whole foods, variety, and consistency over time.
Supplements can have a place, but they tend to work best when they’re supporting an already solid foundation, not trying to replace it.
