Prioritizing Your Health Will Change Your Life - 4 Simple Steps to Get Started
Optimize your health, optimize your life, and become the person you've always wanted to be - starting today.
I remember making semi viral note in the back of an Uber.
I wrote it because I believe being healthy has so many profound benefits. So many benefits that I didn’t understand until I began to prioritize my health.
What goals could I really accomplish? How smart could I really become? How much energy could I truly create?
How much impact could I have on the world.
These benefits are the reason why I prioritize my health. When I take care of my“vessel,” aka mind body and spirit, I have greater ability to do amazing things in this world.
Here’s what happens when you prioritize your health
Always wanted boundless energy? Check
That business idea you wanted to start? Go get that bag
Mind like a yogi? Anything you want boo
Adho Mukha Vrksasana? You mean a handstand? Yessir! Pike position baby.
BUT, where do we start?
Where do we begin on this health journey? There’s so much out there.
What diet should I be on? Keto? Carnivore? Fruitarian? Pescatarian?
What supplements? Bro, this multivitamin costs $155; I'm about to pass out.
Dog, this workout class is ass. How do I not torture myself but still get gains?
This is the problem most of our society is facing when it comes to health.
Information overload.
Almost everyone is so confused that they don’t even know where to begin.
America is the land of the free yet the land of the sick.
47% of Americans are not satisfied with their life
Almost 50% have anxiety
67% have poor sleep
Over 50% of America is overweight.
All this health info. All these supplements, but still, we find ourselves drowning in sickness. The internet is loaded with health coaches, doctor, gurus, and yoga instructors but we don’t know who to trust. I don’t blame you. I was in the same position not too long ago.
Around 5 years ago my brother told me something i’d never forget.
"Jack, you're fat."
Just a couple months before that I was gearing up to play big time college tennis.
Training 3 hours a day made me so fit. My abs were popping, my speed was undeniable and I made opponents quiver in my presence. Ok thats a slight exaggeration, but just make me look cool here.
But now, here I was, lost, confused, and he was right, I was out of shape.
It’s unfortunate but I kind of gave up on tennis. I began to see it as a chore. My dad would have to trick me into going to practice by taking me to Chipotle, and then on the way home, hook a detour straight to the tennis academy, blindsiding me while I savor my barbacoa burrito.
All the traveling, all the tournaments, the weekends on the road by myself. It was all pressing down on me. I was only 18 and felt like I still had so much to explore.
I was just tryna party bro. Don’t kill my swag.
I’m done with tennis.
I started skipping practice, skipping tournaments, and then the sport all together.
My coaches called, but I ghosted them. Next thing I knew, it was 2am and I was in Chinatown, on Chicago's south side, struggling to walk straight.
“You are about to go to college Jack, don’t you want to look good?”
My brother was right. Even though I gave up on my tennis dreams, I was still tryna look fit for the shortys!!!
That def kicked some sense into me, but deep down I really wanted to change.
That change was closer than I thought. The summer before college I read a book called "The 5 AM Club" by Robin Sharma.
It’s a story of an entrepreneur, an artist and a homeless guy.
The entrepreneur is at the height of her career, yet she feel lost. She’s about to take her own life, but was saved by a ticket she noticed in her bathroom.
A ticket to a self improvement seminar.
Out of desperation she goes. Couple chapters later and she’s sitting with a fat painter, and a homeless guy talking about his private jet while ripping 100 pushups.
The rest is history.
This book launched me into the world of self improvement.
The main theme that really sparked my motivation is that once you prioritize yourself, your life changes for the better.
MONK MODE
That summer, I started waking up at 5 am and jumping out of bed.
I'd walk outside into the beautiful Chicago sunrise and started to jump rope.
Nature felt like a dream at this hour. I never woke up before 7, but here I was trying to get my fire back. The oak trees would sway with the wind, the grass would shower in the morning dew. The birds would spit gangsta hot fire.
Now that is some beautiful imagery.
Anyways, I began to love the routine of waking up and taking care of myself.
Following my jump rope and a walk with my homie Fitz, I would do a yoga flow with Breathe and Flo.
This self care morning thing was hard at first. 5am was nuts. I felt like I was on xanax trying to wake up, but a week went by things were changing.
I started to become incredibly productive. Not only would I pound out a whole day of working out before 7am, but I would get to my internship and demolish work.
I also began to dive into health and wellness concepts like fasting and nutrition. I started to not eat until noon and felt insanely good. The energy would be so crazy that I would go home and hit another workout.
This sounds weird but I stopped masturbating as well.
It boosted my confidence and allowed me to retain my chi, a big concept in Traditional Chinese medicine.
Every day was better than the last. I had crazy energy at work. I could handle stress like a champion, and felt a deep sense of control over my destiny.
Regardless of how you feel about yourself now, by putting in the work daily to become a better you, it will pay off in extraordinary ways.
Here is 4 ways on how you can start your health journey
Start with your why.
What's driving you to take this journey?
Do you want to crush the whole day with endless amounts of energy?
Create an indestrubile mind for better focus and presence?
Eliminate chronic issues with your gut, skin, or mouth?
Have more confidence to talk to your crush? Have sex for hours??
Or maybe you just want to look really good naked.
Whatever your reason, take 15 minutes to write it down in a blank document.
Just start writing – your dreams, goals, last night's YouTube stream, or that crazy car-llama stunt. By dumping your thoughts, you'll begin to clear your mind and get a better sense of what you want to achieve. This exercise helps me clarify my vision, goals, and even what to write about.
As you practice, you'll hone this skill, and problems will become easier to solve. You'll have a clear purpose and a roadmap to get there.
Once you've defined your why, say it out loud to train your subconscious.
I'm prioritizing my health so I can have more energy for my kids.
I'm prioritizing my health so I can start that amazing coding company.
I'm prioritizing my health so I can feel confident without my shirt on.
By prioritizing your health, you're prioritizing yourself.
Write down 12-week action steps.
Write down action steps.
Some favorite action steps of mine include
Write one article a week
Meditate for 20 minutes a day.
Write 5 things your grateful for every morning
Get grounded (feet in the grass) for 15 minutes a day.
These action steps will begin to compound. You will feel amazing. Next thing you know you crave more health, more vitality, and more life.
Be a JERF Qualitarian
We are what we eat.
In today's world, a healthy diet can seem complicated, but it doesn't have to be. We're surrounded by diet terms that make us wonder if we're doing the right thing. Should we go keto? Should we eat vegan? Should we include grains?
The answer is, it depends. These diets have therapeutic purposes, but if you just want to live a long and healthy life while enjoying your food, the solution is simple: Just eat real food.
Real food means one ingredient.
Animal Protein (Beef, Salmon, Chicken, Pork)
Fruits and Vegetables (Berries, Artichokes, Arugula)
Tubers (Sweet Potatoes, Yams, Carrots)
Fats (Coconut Oil, Tallow, Ghee, Macadamia Nut Oil)
Eating JERF will do your body a great favor, but I believe true health happens when you prioritize quality.
Some key concepts to consider:
"You are what the animal has eaten"
"No pesticides, no problems"
"Eat like your ancestors"
A kale and chicken salad might seem healthy, and it's certainly better than most of the standard American diet. However, if the salad was grown in pesticide-laden soil, covered in atrazine and glyphosate, you'll be ingesting carcinogenic chemicals that could lead to serious illness. Similarly, if the chicken was fed pesticide-laden soy and grains, it will be high in omega-6 linoleic acid, which can be pro-inflammatory in our bodies. You are what you eat.
The same applies to cows: if they're not pasture-raised and grass-fed, they were likely pumped with antibiotics and growth hormones to increase their weight rapidly, and you'll be getting those substances as well.
Would our ancestors have eaten a whole jar of raw cashew butter or a whole bag of kale? Definitely not. Kale is high in oxalates that can cause oxalate-induced kidney stones and contains cadmium, a dangerous heavy metal.
So, eat JERF, but prioritize the highest quality, just like our ancestors did. They ate wild animals, wild fruits and vegetables, occasional wild nuts and seeds like almonds and macadamia nuts. They ate plenty of animal fat, like tallow, and consumed the entire animal, from liver to heart.
They would have fasted throughout the day, moved often, and enjoyed meals with their community. That, my friends, is the best way to eat and live.
Some of my favorite books that showcase the ancestral diet and lifestyle are:
Deep Nutrition by Catherine Shanahan
Primal Body - Primal Mind by Nora T. Gedgaudas
Invest in the proper tools.
Your health is the greatest investment. My favorite saying is that you either spend a little money now on your health, or spend a ton when you have chronic disease.
So spend a little extra for that that organic fruit. Buy that pastured raised lamb roast. Fly down to Mexico for some placenta stem cells….
Some of my favorite health investments:
Bioptimizers Magnesium and Digestive Health Products
Get Blood Work With a Functional Medicine Doctor
Track your sleep and stress levels with an Oura Ring or a Whoop
Learn from the best in biohack and health including Catherine Shannhan, Ben Greenfield and Dave Asprey.

There is way more I can share with you so I made a list of my favorites to optimize your environment, brain and body.
Here are some of my favorite articles to get you started.

This is how you can supercharge your life in 2025.
By setting your why, taking action, investing in yourself and eating the highest quality food, you will conquer your dreams, and living a great life.
