5 Tips for Finding the Best Superfood Juice at Your Local Juice Bar
Learn How to Choose the Best Superfood Juices at Juice Bars and Grocery Stores
Juice is an incredibly nuanced subject. What is juice, really?
I'm imagining a glass of apple juice, but I'm also salivating over superfood elixirs containing adaptogenic herbs and tonics from nature. It could also be what you find at a grocery store or a juicery. The definition applies to all.
The one universal concept to understand is that to obtain the maximum benefits for our body, we need to get the highest-quality juice.
Understanding the Criteria for High-Quality Juice
To capture the highest quality juice, we need to develop certain criteria. Just like there's a difference between a mundane art piece versus a monumental art piece like a Picasso, we will develop our sensations and discernment towards what juice is of the highest quality.
The first step is to avoid all non-organic fruits and vegetables. The second step is to avoid fruits and vegetables that have been pasteurized. The third step will be to dismiss any juices that use artificial vitamins and additives. We are looking for nature's finest, not man-made goods.
6 Things to Watch Out For When Buying Juice
After numerous years of drinking and creating my own juice blends and recipes, I have created this criteria for assessing whether or not a juice or a juice product is healthy and of the highest quality. Avoid any juice that has these attributes:
Not Organic
Any juice that is not organic certified is contaminated with pesticides. Even if the ingredients seem healthy, pesticides are carcinogenic and harmful to both humans and the environment. (1, 2, 7–12). You can figure out if its organic by looking at the labels for ceritifed organic, or if your at a juicery or store asking the person who made the drink.
Sugar-Heavy Formulations
Many juices are cut with cane sugar, fruit concentrate, or corn syrup to enhance flavor. While natural sugars in fruits are acceptable in moderation, excessive sugar can suppress the immune system and cause weight gain.
Misleading Marketing
Beware of marketing buzzwords like "natural," "detox," and "superfood" without substantial ingredients. Always check for certifications like USDA organic and glyphosate-free.
Low Juice Content
Some juices are diluted with additives, containing as little as 10% real juice. To avoid this look at labels and see if it says 100% juice. Water is an exception
Pasteurized Juices
Pasteurization destroys sensitive vitamins, beneficial enzymes, and antioxidants, reducing the nutritional value of the juice. Look for any raw certifications and ask the juicer.
3 Standards for Juice to follow
Now that we understand the negatives, let's look at the positives. When you walk into any grocery store or juicery, look for these juices:
Organic Ingredients
A good juice starts with organic fruits and vegetables. Pesticides wreak havoc on your body and soul, so organic ingredients are essential. You can look at the label to see if it has organic ingredients. If not, ask the juicer.
No Chemicals or Fillers
The juice should be free of chemicals, fillers, and additives.
Inclusion of Superfoods
If a company adds organic superfoods and has an incredible ingredient list without artificial additives, that's a great sign. These superfoods can enhance the nutritional value of the juice, making it incredibly beneficial for you.
Juice Stores That Make Some Mighty Fine Juice
Finding an excellent juice bar can make all the difference. Here are some of my favorite places to get high-quality juice:
HI-VIBE (Chicago) - HI-VIBE is my favorite place right now. While in Chicago, I was looking for a place to get superfood juices and learned about HI-VIBE. They use all organic ingredients, no pasteurization, and superfood everything. Their menu features a variety of nutrient-dense options:
Superfood Smoothies like the Blue Majik made with blue spirulina, coconut milk, and chia seeds.
Adaptogenic Lattes such as the Maca Mocha, combining maca root, raw cacao, and almond milk.
Cold-Pressed Juices including the Green Dream, a blend of kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, lemon, and ginger.
Nut Mylks like the Vanilla Almond, made from soaked almonds, vanilla bean, and Himalayan salt.

The power of superfoods
I love juice, but I don't want to pay $12 for a superfood juice every single day. I would if I could, but that's where superfood greens powders come in. I use a company called Organifi, which I discovered through Paul Chek's podcast.
Everything is wildcrafted and organic, and use superfoods that I couldn't normally find at a grocery store. Additionally, Organifi avoids plastics and pesticides, and everything is glyphosate residue-free.
I can be anywhere, and even if I can't eat all the food, I can bring their green juice or red juice, even their protein powders, and fill myself with nutrients to give my body the energy to flow through my day. They even have a coffee creamer packed with superfoods!
Get your daily superfoods for around $2 per juice without breaking the bank.

Some great pointers here Jack. Definitely a good idea to preferably buy a glass bottled if you're getting one from the grocery store due to potential plastic chemicals leeching into the juice. I had a question Jack, do you drink any teas?
Omgawdddsssss. Whenever I see hi vibe it’s like a moth to a luminous flame. Obsessed. Sunlife is chill too, mad expensive tho. Sunlifes undeniable beauty lures the customer, leaving us weak and eventually dropping bands on an açaí bowl. Hi vibe tho, cannot judge a book by its cover as the mystical experience comes from the average looking elixir.
