Ultimate Brain Revolution for Busy Professionals: Skyrocket Your Focus, Unleash Creativity, and Amplify Endurance with Tailored Supplements, Energetic Movement, and Stimulating Brain Games
Can we access 100% of our brain?
The human brain is a marvel of evolution.
It has shaped our journey from primitive beings to the architects of complex societies.
Despite our brain's incredible capacity for both creativity and analytical thinking, modern society often pushes us into narrowly defined roles.
This article explores how we can embrace and enhance both sides of our brain for a more enriched life.
Evolution of the Brain
Three hundred thousand years ago, when Homo sapiens first arrived, life was a struggle.
Early humans, lacking basic survival skills, slept in trees – hardly a restful experience.
Constantly threatened by larger predators and perplexed by the concept of fire, our ancestors faced numerous challenges.
Yet, this period marked the beginning of a remarkable transformation, driven by our evolving brain.
Society's Perception of Creativity and Analysis
Fast forward to today, and we find ourselves in a hyper-technological society, often polarized between analytical and creative mindsets.
This societal division discourages many from exploring the full spectrum of their brain's capabilities. Creatives are often labeled as 'naturally gifted', while analytical minds are seen as robotic and unartistic.
This false dichotomy overlooks our brain's inherent capacity for both creativity and logic.
Our Brain's Dual Nature
Our brain, comprising two hemispheres – the creative and the analytical – is designed for holistic functioning.
The creative side, like Marty, wakes up inspired by nature, brimming with artistic ideas. Meanwhile, the analytical side, like Theo, thrives on solving complex problems and dissecting data.
Yet, in our fast-paced world, the creative aspects are often undervalued, even though they are crucial for breakthroughs in business, technology, and engineering.
Reconnecting the Hemispheres
Our mission is to foster connectivity between these hemispheres.
By embracing practices such as movement, brain training, and supplementation, we can enhance our brain's plasticity, leading to improved cognitive abilities, quicker idea connection, and heightened problem-solving skills.
Movement
Racquet Sports
In sports like tennis or squash, we must track the ball, move strategically, analyze our opponent, and respond quickly.
These activities engage both hemispheres of the brain, combining physical agility with critical thinking.
Daniel Amen, a leader in neuroscience and brain health, advocates racquet sports for their cognitive benefits and potential to prevent Alzheimer's and other degenerative diseases.
Fitness influencer Ben Greenfield also regards racquet sports as cognitively enhancing, likening them to a blend of fitness and chess.
Swimming
Another excellent activity is swimming, which involves asynchronous movement (using the right leg and left arm, then the left leg and right arm).
This coordination of opposite limbs fosters connectivity between the brain's hemispheres.
Scientists have recognized swimming for its unique ability to engage and enhance both sides of the brain simultaneously.
Brain Training
Engaging in brain games and hand-eye coordination exercises each morning, such as sudoku or crossword puzzles, can significantly enhance both creative and analytical abilities.
A study from 2004 demonstrated this concept:
A group of healthy students was asked to juggle for 3 months
20 minutes a day
The result showed jugglers had more gray matter
Proved a hypothesis that any form of hand-eye coordination drill grows the gray matter of the brain
Try this Mental Exercise
Count backwards from 100 to 0. Speed is key. Don’t worry if you skip a number, just get down to 0 as fast as possible.
Find a noun that fits each letter of the alphabet, from A-Z. Don’t just think of the noun, however—really imagine it. For example, A might be an apple. Imagine the vivid red color, the smell, the taste, and so on. This will activate your right and left brain.
Say 10 female names out loud. Don’t repeat.
Say 10 male names out loud. Don’t repeat.
Close your eyes, and take 10 deep breaths. Feel the oxygen flow through your body.
Supplements
Here is a list of supplements for increased mental performance
Legendary mycologist Paul Stamets recommends a specific stack for activating the brain's hemispheres.
These supplements can enhance mood, focus, and cognitive clarity.
Creatine – not just good but necessary for the brain
Modafinil is great, but isn’t for everyone
Alpha GPC for concentration and focus (use code BEN to save 15%)
Electrolytes drive your brain to produce energy
L tyrosine – it's a precursor
Make you actually feel happy and good and focused
Understanding our brain's evolutionary past and challenging societal stereotypes enable us to unlock its full potential.
Through targeted exercises, thoughtful practices, and supportive supplements, we can enhance our cognitive abilities, achieving a harmonious balance between creativity and analytical prowess.
By reconnecting our brain's hemispheres, we embrace a more holistic and enriched life.
With Love and Gratitude,
Jack
